Basic Tire Maintenance Knowledge

Does driving habits impact the tires' longevity?

Yes, Michelin has offered us a few tips on helping our tires to last longer-

1) Do not unnecessarily speed. Speeding generates excessive heat on the tires, thus increase the wear on them.

2) Avoid excessive acceleration in corners or when cornering.

3) Avoid aggressive and sudden acceleration & brake.

4) Avoid driving along the curbs, sides of the street, potholes, and gravel surface.

How to maintain new tires?

1) Check tire pressure on a monthly basis- and only check when the tires are cool, ideally when the vehicle has been parked for longer than 3 hours.

2) Regularly check if there are damages, cuts, or other irregularities along the tire's' surface.

3) Make sure the tires are properly balanced by professionals.

4) Maintain the air pressure suggested by the vehicle's manufacturer.

Do new tires require special treatment?

New tires do not require any special treatment. However, it is recommended to exercise extra care when "breaking in" a set of new tires as the vehicle feedback may change with any tire change.

Do I need to replace tire valves when installing new tires?

Yes, it is because tire valves are plastic and they wear out with time.
